Guitar Lesson FAQ's

The following are rates for 30 minute lessons:

 Kyle Hancock $30.00 per lesson

Chris Koehler $30.00 per lesson

Tim Dougherty $30.00 per lesson

Mark Rambler $30.00 per lesson

Robert Putt $35.00 per lesson

Policies and rates may vary with each teacher. Below are the policies for lessons with Robert Putt.

If it is a 5 week month, the lesson studio will be closed on days that would fall on the 5th week.

There will be no refunds for missed lessons. The time was booked and we have to charge for it. It would not be fair to our teachers to suffer income loss due to frequent cancellations of any kind. However, we will issue a make-up credit if 24-hour notice was given. You have 120 days to use your make-up credit provided there is a make-up slot open in our schedule.

This cancellation policy includes scheduled vacations. Our studio would suffer much income loss if we allowed exceptions for vacations. Please keep in mind if you cancel lessons for the month of a scheduled vacation, you risk losing your slot to a new student sign-up.

If a teacher is sick or on vacation, we will provide you with a make-up lesson or issue a credit on your next billing statement.

Guitars on Main reserves the right to change and update these policies at any time.

We believe that getting an early start learning an instrument is a great idea.

However, for guitar lessons, we generally recommend a minimum age of 7 years old. This is because most children at this age have developed the necessary fine motor skills and cognitive abilities needed to learn guitar effectively.

That being said, we understand that every child is unique and some may be ready to start learning guitar at a younger age. If you have a child who is younger than 7 and interested in taking guitar lessons, we're happy to give it a try! After a month of lessons, we'll be able to assess whether or not they're ready to continue.

Ultimately, the decision to start guitar lessons at a younger age should be based on the individual child's readiness and interest. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us for more information.

At Guitars on Main, we're passionate about helping seniors discover the joys of playing guitar. Not only is it a fun and rewarding hobby, but it can also have a positive impact on overall wellbeing.

Numerous studies have shown that playing guitar can improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of dementia, enhance fine motor skills, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote relaxation. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping seniors achieve these benefits through patient and supportive guidance in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience with guitar, our lessons are tailored to meet your unique needs and goals.

So if you're a senior looking to improve your physical and mental health, make new connections, and have fun while doing it, Guitars on Main is here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our guitar lessons for seniors and to start your musical journey.

If a student wants to learn rock or metal music, for example, an electric guitar would be a better choice as it can produce the distorted tones and sustain required for those genres. However, if a student is interested in playing folk or acoustic music, an acoustic guitar would be more appropriate.

Ultimately, the decision on which type of guitar to purchase should be based on the student's interests and preferences. Our experienced staff can provide guidance on choosing a suitable guitar based on the student's budget, skill level, and preferred music genre

At Guitars on Main, we collaborate with talented independent contractors who serve as instructors. Each teacher sets their own rates and policies, though generally, their approaches and expectations align. We encourage students to communicate directly with their instructors for specific details about lessons.

Success in learning the guitar depends greatly on the student's practice habits, commitment, and natural abilities. While we provide the tools and guidance to help students achieve their musical goals, we cannot guarantee they will reach an expert level or emulate their favorite guitarists. Progress varies for each individual, and we aim to set realistic expectations for a positive and rewarding learning experience.
