1976 S. Yairi No. 880 Classical Guitar -- Made in Japan

1 item left

This is an authentic Sadao Yairi classical guitar made in Japan. The cedar top has aged to a warm, even amber with tight straight grain and no cracks. The back and sides are Brazilian rosewood -- pre-CITES, legally owned, and the figure on this one is genuinely beautiful. Deep reddish-brown with swirling dark grain, high-gloss finish intact throughout. The ebony fretboard is clean, the mahogany neck is straight, and the original gold classical tuners with cream rollers are all working as they should.

Sadao Yairi built guitars starting in 1932 and is widely credited as the luthier who taught his nephew Kazuo Yairi the craft -- the same Kazuo behind the well-regarded Alvarez-Yairi line. The 880 was one of his higher-tier production models, featuring hand-scalloped bracing and quality tonewoods throughout.

Plays well and includes a hard case (non-original).
