The iconic Firebird, now with a rosewood fretboard

Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson Firebird brings back the unmistakable reverse body and reverse headstock that made the original 1963 model such a head turner. Styled by famed automotive designer Ray Dietrich, the Firebird was also Gibson’s first neck through body electric. That design is a big part of why it feels so alive in your hands and why it sustains the way it does.

This Firebird uses a traditional 9 ply mahogany and walnut neck through body build, delivering warm, resonant tone and long, singing sustain. With the neck running straight through the body, key parts like the tuners, pickups, bridge, and tailpiece all mount into the same continuous pieces of wood, which helps the whole guitar ring as one. The SlimTaper C neck profile keeps the feel quick and comfortable, while the bound rosewood fretboard adds a smooth playing surface with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid trapezoid inlays.

The refreshed model is fitted with ProBucker FB720 Firebird pickups with Alnico 2 magnets, built to vintage style Firebird specs and wired to high quality CTS potentiometers. They deliver the Firebird’s signature bright, clear, hum free voice. Even though they share a similar footprint, Firebird pickups are not mini humbuckers. Their internal design is different, using blade magnets inside the coils and a steel reflector plate rather than pole pieces and a magnet underneath, creating a tone that’s crisp, focused, and unmistakably its own.

Premium hardware rounds out the package, including an Epiphone LockTone Tune O Matic bridge and LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover Mini Rotomatic six in line tuners, and a Graph Tech nut for reliable tuning stability. The pickguard features the classic Firebird logo hot stamped in red.

Bold in look and powerful in sound, the Firebird is made for everything from stage volume to late night garage jams. A premium gig bag is included for easy carry and protection.
