A Special that’s built for real players, at a friendly price

When Gibson introduced the Les Paul Special in 1955, it was meant to sit right in the middle of the lineup. It offered a step up from the Les Paul Junior with two pickups instead of one, plus extra visual upgrades like a mother of pearl headstock logo and a bound fretboard. It filled the gap between the upscale Les Paul Standard and the more student focused Junior.

In 1958, the Special shifted to a double cutaway body, giving players easier access up the neck. By 1960, it really found its groove. The neck pickup position was adjusted, the neck moved to a faster SlimTaper profile, and the result was a guitar that played quicker and felt more stable.

Epiphone brings that early 60s vibe back with the Les Paul Special Double Cut, an Inspired by Gibson take on those classic models. It features a slab mahogany double cutaway body that makes reaching the higher frets effortless. The glued in mahogany neck has a 60s SlimTaper profile and a bound rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays.

Up top, the 60s style Kalamazoo headstock is fitted with Epiphone three on a plate tuners with ivory buttons and a Graph Tech nut for reliable tuning and a true vintage look. The Epiphone logo is inlaid in mother of pearl. On the other end, the strings anchor into an Epiphone Lightning Bar compensated wraparound bridge that bolts straight into the body for strong sustain and lively resonance.

For tone, it’s loaded with a pair of Epiphone P 90 PRO single coil Soapbar pickups. They cover a wide range, from bright, chimey cleans to raw, gritty overdrive. Each pickup has its own volume and tone controls, giving you plenty of control without complicating things.

The Epiphone Les Paul Special Double Cut keeps everything players love about the original idea and makes it easier than ever to get your hands on one. A premium gig bag is included.
