Hagstrom HII-B Mid-1960s Red Medium-Scale Bass – Serial 643772 – Vintage Player
This is a mid-1960s Hagström HII-B bass (serial number 643772), built in Älvdalen, Sweden during Hagström’s golden era. Finished in its original red, this medium-scale (32") instrument combines comfort, unique Scandinavian design, and that unmistakable Hagström tone.
Condition & Playability:
-
Neck is straight, frets show no grooving, and it plays smoothly across the board.
-
All original hardware and pickups. Electronics are original except for three replaced wires (two jack leads and the ground).
-
Finish has aged with natural relicing. The back of the neck had some flaking, which was lightly sanded for smooth playability.
-
Cosmetically “very good” for its age, and structurally solid.
Features:
-
Medium 32" scale length — balanced feel between short and long scale.
-
Dual Hagström pickups with multi-switch system for versatile tones.
-
Original tuners and bridge intact.
-
Distinctive vintage red finish with authentic patina.
Why Collectors Care:
The HII-B has become a cult favorite among vintage bass enthusiasts. Swedish-made Hagströms from this period are known for their fast necks, lightweight bodies, and unique voice. This one shows its age but has been revived into a solid player with plenty of vintage character.
