It’s terribly convenient for us to have a local musical instrument store here in the Mount Joy community. I say that like it’s a bad thing, well, to be honest it just might be. Why?? Because a lot of the money I make as a working musician goes right there at Guitars On Main. I’m not sure how many guitars I’ve bought from Robert over the past few years, having bench work done on a handful and other gear I found myself walking out the door with.

As for the latest purchase, the Yamaha TAG 3 acoustic, this was something I didn’t know I needed. I had stopped in just to say hi 2 weeks ago, happened to notice a few new acoustic, I’m mainly an electric player, I have a decent Martin that has covered what I needed. After trying out the Yamaha I left, and couldn’t stop thinking about how rich the low end was, a perfectly balanced mid range and just enough highs to add a glossy glass like top end. A week later I was bringing it home. I’ve barely put it down since. The onboard effects are just amazing, once you download the companion app to your phone, adjusting the parameters like an actual pedal, the dials on the guitar allow you to dial in just what you need. It doesn’t overpower to sound, it transparently enhances the sound. The guitar itself already has enough power behind it to project evenly. The effects just gives it that extra vibrancy you’d hear on any recording.

So why is it so important that I buy from Robert at Guitars On Main? Because the shop is that old skool relationship that’s has disappeared from local music shops. It’s like visiting a friends place, you’ll get zero BS, just enough interaction to make it welcoming and no pressure. I wasn’t compensated for this review, I don’t need to be. It’s just nice to have a place that’s knowledgeable, friendly, zero sales pressure and honest. When Robert started carrying Jet guitars, he didn’t gloss over it with me, he knows I play out professionally often, but at the time that sub $200 guitar was just as important as a $3,000 guitar on the wall. And he was right, that pink Tele has been played at a number of gigs and holds its own with my much more expensive Telecaster.

Besides everything else, he offers a rewards program with every dollar spent to be used later on.

Thanks so much for your support over the years, Larry! That old skool relationship is something you and I both grew up with, and we’re doing our best to preserve that.
